Conceived as a light weight construction in wood and glass, this summerhouse is built in the outer Stockholm archipelago. The horizontal character of the black stained exterior relates to the verticals of tall grown pines and the mirrored views of the Baltic Sea.
Sluseholmen – The “Dutch-Inspired Canal Town”
From the intriguing website Copenhagen X, is this piece about the recently developed canal district on Sluseholmen. Here’s an excerpt from the website:
“The idea for a canal district on Sluseholmen originated with the Dutch architect Sjoerd Soeters, who used his experiences from Java Island, a residential district built on an artificial island in Amsterdam.

And the Dutch inspiration is obvious. Newly dug canals form the basic structure. The new canal district was built on eight artificial islands with a pattern of continuous blocks with sheltered courtyards. ”

Global Poll: Four in Five Regard Internet as a Fundamental Right
According to a world wide survey by the BBC “Four in five adults (79%) regard internet access as their fundamental right, according to a new global poll conducted across 26 countries for BBC World Service. The poll of more than 27,000 adults conducted by GlobeScan found that 87 per cent of those who used the internet felt that internet access should be “the fundamental right of all people.” More than seven in ten (71%) non-internet users also felt that they should have the right to access the web.
Countries where very high proportions regarded internet access as their fundamental right included South Korea (96%), Mexico (94%), and China (87%).”
